If you have a check in table then I think that's where you should put them. If you want them to be a focal point then I would suggest that you have a table just for the place cards have them under a well lit area with a complimenting floral arrangement around it. I think that that is really cool that you made them yourself and you deserve the exposure. Good Luck!.
1. what are a few things that still irk you about your wedding?
The things that made still irks me is having some one in my wedding party I never wanted there in the first place. She was nothing but trouble (which she always is) and horrible to me the day of (she actually told me my wedding will never be as beautiful as hers was). My MIL and SIL (the pain) Both complained all day and refused to take pictures. His second cousin showed up with her 4 kids (which she had already been told that there would be no children there). Had fit we didnt have room or place cards and our coordinator almost had to call the police. Please poeple it is the bride and grooms day be nice or stay at home they dont need to deal with rude, bad mannered, no class people on there special day.
2. Do place cards have to be typed/printed?
My venue included place cards in my package, but they required handwriting. I did not like that because my handwriting is terrible and the only handwritten cards i've ever seen were done by professional calligraphers. so I chose to purchase business cards at staples, put a simple blue rectangular border, and print each name on the printer. For 150 ppl cost me about $16 and an hour of my time. Super easy and it looked professional and perfect!!
3. Can I place my wedding place cards on the plates?
i know you say you do not have room for a table, but i think you need to try. it will take a LONG time for people to walk around to each table and look at each plate. be creative, i am sure there is some way to set up a table of some sort.
4. How many place cards do you need?
I've been to weddings that have done both - individual cards, and card for couples/families. If you prefer one per group, there is not anything wrong with that: Robert and Jane Doe Bobby and Suzie Doe Table 5 If you have your place cards set out near the door (which is a very smart idea, and put them in alphabetical order so its easy for people to find their name), you do not need name cards on the tables. Just put a card with the table number on each table. Some people have the name cards set out on the tables already, not at the door, which I think it more confusing, because then you have to wander to every table and look for your name.
5. are wedding place cards wriiten as Mr& Mrs.or does each person get a card?
Each person gets a place card since each person gets a seat
6. How should I refer to members of my family on their place cards?
Stop being a nazi, let them sit where they want
7. im having a childrens table with 10 children, how do i do with their place-cards?
Yes, they each get their own place card. If you are going with titles before the names it would be either Miss__________ or Master________
8. Place cards with no assigned seating?
The open seating sounds like WAY too much of a fuss. You said yourself that people were standing around for half an hour, then they had to be asked to be seated an additional 3 times. That took another 15 minutes. That was 45 minutes out of the bride and groom's reception that was clearly wasted. They could have started 45 minutes early and then had 45 minutes more of dancing after dinner, speeches and cake cutting. As a guest, you were probably unaware of how the prolonged seating of guest really changed the overall schedule of the reception events. So, I would do assigned tables. You can let the guests pick which seat they would like at their assigned tables. But, do not let them pick where ever. With large amounts of people, it's hard to sit everyone in a quick and effective manner without assigned tables. If you announce open seating during cocktail hour, you will probably still have confusion. I would think there would be some people who would be changing tables right up to the very last second. Also, what happens if a guest arrives late and ends up being seated with a relative that they can not stand! That could be drama. You can avoid wasting time and energy by assigning tables
