why is it all over your bodies?
1. how do you take of paint off of fiberglass?
One of three of my favorite products: Goof Off, or Oops - or Goo Gone. They all work well at removing spots of paint. What you need to do is try it on a tiny spot. Have some water handy to neutralize the chemical action. Rub it on until the paint is gone, wipe it off, rinse it. Check the fiber Glass surface and see if it looks okay, i.e., not damaged from the chemical. Fiber glass has what is called a gel coat. Usually the color coat of resin is sprayed into the mold, then the actual fiber glass panel is created. When the panel is released from the mold, it has a glossy colored surface. Its possible you will dull the surface of the gel coat. That's why you want to try it on a small surface. If it seems to only slightly dull the surface, try using a fine grain rubbing compound, followed by a good automotive was, such as Turtlewax.
2. Is fiber glass bad for your eyes and skin?
If you can not see and if your eye is all closed up, see a doctor or the emergency room. The sliver will be really tiny and hard to get out. If your eye is fine, do not worry
3. Fiber glass roadster. Is it safe?
I would not recommend driving a beautiful vintage car like that daily on the road due to other drivers, BUT corvettes are also fiberglass.. and just cruise and you will be safe
4. how much heavier is Fiber Glass to Carbon Fiber for a car body?
Fiber glass is 2.5 gr/cc and carbon fiber is 1.78 so fiber glass is about 28% heavier
5. how strong is fiber glass?
IT is very strong, pound 4 pound it is 5 times stronger than mild steel
6. Fiber Glass Itch..............?
im guessing u mean the suit with face mask and hood, etc? with my experience with fiber glass (working in a fiber glass board pressing plant) i would always double or triple layer (long sleeves, thinner turtle neck maybe, etc) at least to just help stop it more, especially my gloves (they gave me like these cottonish ones), that helped alot. make sure he has work only clothes and only ever use them for that/wash them with each other and thats it. other than that your skin gets used to it after alil while then it wont bother you as much, but yes fiber glass really sucks. i have heard that maybe rubbing corn starch/baby/talcum powder before you start to areas such as arms hands, ears, around your neck, more exposed areas, etc will help, but probably not stop it completely. Taking as cold of a shower as u can first with a cheaper wash cloth to use only for this is good idea to get rid of most of it [whipe in one direction because its like trying to remove splinters] (dont want to open up ur pores with a hot shower first), then take the hot shower to open them up and try to get the rest out. cant think of anything else atm
7. (PDF) AN INVENT TO IMPROVE BULLETPROOF VESTS CAPABILITIES
Abstract - W oven laminated Epoxy reinforced with Kevlar and Glass fiber vest plates are subjected to three types of projectiles with thre different masses and impact velocities. An invented phenomenon is adopted by using an air gap between two composite plates. The effect of the air gap gave about 20% modification in the total absorbed energy and momentum which made a good decrease in the bullet ulletproof vests are specifically designed to protect the jectiles. All over the world, different cultures developed body armor for use during combat. Around the fifth centu ry B.C., Persians and Greeks used up to a dozen layers of linen, while Micronesian inhabitants of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands used Somewhere else, armor was made from the hides of animals: as wore rhinoceros skin in five to seven layers Mail armor comprised linked rings or wires of iron, steel, or brass and was The use of composite materials has been steadily increasing in the past several decades. The high strength, high stiffness and lightweight properties make them particularly attractive to designers in a variety of industries. The composite material consists of a matrix and one or more of the reinforcing phases such as particulate, flake and fiber. In the continuous fiber composites, due to its large surface area, the fiber matrix interface influences the behavior of a composite. In addition to providing a mechanism to transfer loads from matrix to fibers, the interface also plays an i portant role in determining the composite toughness. In spite of many advantages, the composite materials suffer from lo er ductility and toughness when compared to commonly used Since the plastics revo lution of the 1940s, bulletpro of vests became available in a limited manner. The vests of the t ime were made of ballistic nylon and supplemente d by plates of fiber glass, steel, ceramic, titanium, Boron, and t he most effe tive composites of ceramic and fibergl ass. Ballistic nylon was the standard cloth used for bulletproof vests unti l the 1970s. In 1965, Kevlar is invented, a liquid polymer that can be spun into aramid fiber and woven into cloth. Primarily, Ke vlar was d veloped for use in tires, and later for su ch diving products and different parts for planes and boats. In 1971, Lester Shubin of the National Institute of Law Enforce ment and Criminal Justice advocated its use to re tor for Kevlar and called it Spect ra. Originally used for sail cloth, the p olyethylene fiber is now used to make lighter, yet stronger, nonwoven mater ial for use in method to study the ballistic resistance ca pability of ceramic and Kevlar composite materials. They found that in- m/sec. the energy absorption increased up to a ce rtain limit and then decreased slightly for all the test panels which w ere con- sisting of 3 and 5 layers of 3 types of glass reinforcement with The development of science entered the composite material for the war industry. Composite material, used in the armor where used several f ibers including c arbon fiber, boro n fiber, Fiber glass, walnut fiber and others.
