AN on the premises house sale by Doneraile based Aidan Foley will take place at Marybrook House, Kanturk next Saturday (Sept 15) at 12 noon. Among the contents is a selection of oak furniture, including side tables which suit the medieval style of the interior. Georgian furniture includes a side table (possibly Irish) and two mahogany chests on chest. There is a good Victorian half tester bed, a Victorian double scroll ended couch, a Regency pedestal sideboard, a Victorian dining table with two extra leaves which comfortably seats ten people and a mahogany longcase clock with brass dial. There are oil paintings, watercolours, gilt mirrors, rugs, silver, plate, glass and Chinese and European ceramics. Viewing is from 5pm to 8pm next Thursday, from 11am to 8pm on Friday, and from 10am to the start of the auction on this day week.

Marybrook is a converted tower house which dates to the 1550s on a site established by the Knight's Templar as a manor farm in the 11th-12th century. Among the contents is a selection of oak furniture, including side tables which suit the medieval style of the interior. Georgian furniture includes a side table (possibly Irish) and two mahogany chests on chest. There is a good Victorian half tester bed, a Victorian double scroll ended couch, a Regency pedestal sideboard, a Victorian dining table with two extra leaves which comfortably seats ten people and a mahogany longcase clock with brass dial. There are oil paintings, watercolours, gilt mirrors, rugs, silver, plate, glass and Chinese and European ceramics. Outdoor items include some farm machinery and tools, including a vintage tractor, cast iron and stone garden furniture and a 1973 Porsche 911. Viewing is from 5pm to 8pm next Thursday, from 11am to 8pm on Friday, and from 10am to the start of the auction on this day week.

Has Any1 Seen a Reall Live Ghost?
I am a believer in something. I did not "see" a ghost or spirit, but what I experienced will forever be with me. It happened one evening a few days after my landlords wife passed away. She always wanted to live in the house we rent, it was built for her sister. One evening around 11 pm I was sitting on the couch watching tv when the room started getting colder. Not seeing your breath cold, but this was another warm summer night. I tucked my feet under myself for some warmth, when all the sudden the wicker rocking chair started rocking as if someone was sitting in it. My first instinct told me it was the cat as she liked to paw at the furniture and has done many times. Then I realized the cat was on the couch beside me staring at the rocking, rocking chair. The chair rocked for about 30 seconds to a minute and then quit. I was scared stiff, I could not move, speak, or look away. Gives me the heebie-jeebies everytime I think about it. That is the only thing that I have ever personally experienced, although I do get the feeling I am being watched from time to time.
