Before installing toilet so toilet sets on top of new tile floor
1. When tiling a bathroom floor, do you go around the toilet or under it?
The proper way is to go under the toilet but who the heck wants to do that? When I tiled my floor in the bathroom, I cut the tile to fit around it so I would not have to mess with all that
2. I need to take out tile on bathroom floor?
I m assuming ceramic tile. A hammer is a must, a small sledge hammer is better.Use also a masonry chisel , 3/4" wide at least. Scraping the thin set, a scraper won t cut it. You ll need a heavy duty chisel..Best over all to get under what ever type of under layment was used and take it all up at once. On a few occasions when a thick concrete bed was used, taking just the tile up is an option. I base this on how good the mud bed is and how well the tile is or isn t bonded to it. If your on a cement slab, taking the tile up and then coating the old thin set or taking it off with a chisel is decided at that time. Saftey while doing this is a must. Sharp chips fly so wear a long sleeve shirt, eye and ear protection to keep chips from getting into both places.. Be prepared for the dust, so take precautions there.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. I ve torn up 100s of old tile floors in the last 20 years.. GL
3. How do you tile a bathroom floor?
lay them on the floor as if already glued. [to get a view of any cuts or where to start.] some people start at the wall with out regards to the finished look, with cuts to one side . other people divided the area and start at a middle area with even cut sides at the wall. usually the door way view has a straight line and the cuts to the wall
4. Tile bathroom: floor or walls first? Why?
They always show floors done first on DIY tv, I hate seeing this, i do the opposite because you can do a messy job tiling the walls and painting the ceiling, and not worry about the floors. being ruined. . doing the floor first across the room will leave a tile thickness below the first tile on the wall, I do not think it matters if you demo the tiles in the future. I've always done the walls first and paint everything then the floor. Definitely tile the floors pre toilet and vanity installation. tiles under the vanity or not is another choice, but definitely before the toilet
5. What do you use to replace a soggy bathroom floor in a trailer house?
I would find the leak first,, then go to home depot
6. What is the proper height of a toilet flange from the bathroom floor? The flange in my half bath is flush?
Flush is fine. Using multiple wax seals can cause problems since it is possible for them to slide when installing the toilet and block the discharge. You can purchase thicker wax seals
7. does bathroom floor tiles need to match sink top and shower tiles?
yes bc ur bathroom needs to look nice and match it doesnt look right if you put diffrent colors
8. bathroom floor mats/rugs have stained the vinyl/linoluem floor, I am unable to get the yellowish color off.?
The yellow stain on your floor is likely due to the rubber backing on the rug altering the finish on your flooring. You may not be able to remove the stain without stripping the wax and recoating the floor. Before getting that drastic, try making a baking soda paste, with baking soda and water, and applying it to the stain. Allow it to sit overnight, scrub and rinse. You could also try hydrogen peroxide on the stain, or a weak bleach solution
9. What do you think about a high school girl spending her entire lunch period in the bathroom on the floor ?
she probably passed out from anorexia
