We have a 3' tall statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in our front yard. St. Francis greets guests at our main entry door, and there is a short praying angel on the back deck. Call it faith, but during a neighborhood crime spree, the neighbor to our left was first robbed. The elderly neighbor to our right was robbed, while he was in the house. He is blind in one eye and can not hear. DId not even know someone was in his house during daylight! He told my husband that the crooks probably walked through our backyard to get to his house! As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, and He will protect us! Amen. PS There is another theory. The crooks probably looked in the window and figured they were too late, we had already been hit! lol

This post resonates with me. My husband works overnight as well. He had friends that would call his cellphone when they know he should be sleeping, and people that drop by at all hours. I would put on my pajamas, and they still would not leave. A lot of people do not take hints well, or would think the note does not apply to them. I would tell them when they come over. "I am so glad you came over. Would you mind being out by 8 pm because we all go to bed at 8:30? We have not been getting enough sleep and are starting to get cranky. We are really trying to stick to our new schedule, and would appreciate your help." If they are in your house and wo not leave I would say, "Do you need anything for the road-- a bottle of water or anything?" My husband and I need to get to bed right now. Let me walk you out, so I can lock the door behind you."

My front door is the same, only opening half way. I believe that the feng shui in the room (lounge) that it opens into is improved by the candelabra (not my choice but my landlord's I hasten to add!) and a small shrine in an enclave where a fire could be fitted (which includes a fat buddah-for peace, oil burner-for spirituality, love letter from my finace-for love of course, jar of pennies-for wealth and toy monkey-for fun!). I have also added a rug to the laminate floor to give the room a softer feel. Feng shui no-no's include cacti (which I do not stick to, I have a cactus but a wind chime is hung above it which is meant to counteract bad feng shui) and lots of mirrors because both are meant to do funny things to the chi energy. As Douglas Adams said, try imagining how a dragon would feel walking around your house. If he would be knocking things off with his tail or having to squeeze through gaps, your house has bad feng shui.
